How we estimate costs

Every calculator on PestCost exists to answer one question honestly: what is the fair price range for this pest problem in 2026? Here is exactly how we build those numbers, so you can judge them for yourself.
Where the numbers come from
For each job we compile treatment-price ranges from three kinds of sources and reconcile them:
- Published 2026 cost guides from established home-services publishers (HomeGuide, Today’s Homeowner, and others). Each calculator page lists the specific sources we used.
- Pest-control cost databases that break a job into inspection, treatment method, home size, and follow-up visits.
- Real quote ranges reported by homeowners, which we use to sanity-check the low and high ends.
How the calculator works
Each calculator starts from a base treatment range for what you pick (pest type, treatment method, or service level), then applies multipliers for home size, severity, and your region’s cost of living. We show the full breakdown on screen — the math is never hidden. The result is a low–high band with a typical figure in the middle, because real jobs vary with construction, access, and how established the infestation is.
What these estimates are — and aren’t
They are planning estimates to help you budget and to know whether a quote is fair. They are not quotes. We can’t inspect your home, and pest pricing moves with local labor markets, severity, and the treatment method a licensed pro recommends. Always get 2–3 written quotes before you commit — and for termites and bed bugs, start with a professional inspection.
Independence & how we’re funded
PestCost is independent. We don’t perform treatments and we don’t skew our numbers for advertisers. When you choose to request quotes through our tools, we may earn a referral commission — this never changes the price you pay or the estimates we publish. See our full disclosure.
Keeping it current & corrections
